What is a Virtual Server? ...You're visiting one now!... Everything you see on
ZRAMP's
site and our customers' sites is residing on a Virtual Server. The home pages, the cgi and
Java scripts, FrontPage server extensions, all run on a Virtual Server.
Your Virtual Server or hosted site will allow you to establish an Internet presence on
multiple high speed DS3 connections at a fraction of the cost. Normally, to establish a
presence on the Internet, it would require you to purchase a high speed Internet
connection, costly equipment, and possibly a support staff. With the Virtual Server System
you get the Internet services you want without the worries and costs of a dedicated
Internet connection
The Virtual Server System is based on the idea of multiplexing a single UNIX server
into multiple virtual machines or multiple virtual servers, each with its own IP address
and domain name. When a request is received, the Virtual Server System determines which
virtual server will service the request based on this unique IP address and then invokes
the appropriate service to respond to the request. All this takes only fractions of a
second.
By sharing the UNIX server (and the high speed DS3 bandwidth), you save
thousands of dollars on the hardware, personnel, and time required to install, maintain,
and service a dedicated connection (which for a typical business is no faster than a T1).
The Virtual Server System is far easier to manage because most of the work is done for
you. We offer easy to use utilities such as iManager which allows you to
administrate your server remotely without learning telnet. Furthermore, the Virtual Server
System offers tremendous Internet connectivity via multiple DS3's linked directly to the
Sprint, MCI, and UUNET fiber backbones.
Not only is the Virtual Server System well connected, but it is the most flexible virtual
server solution on the Internet. Each virtual server includes its own set of virtual
services-
- http (web),
- ftp for file transfer
- pop & e-mail
These services operate in a "virtual environment" independent of any other
account. Therefore, you are free to customize your virtual server to your liking and
needs.
For example, your virtual server includes an entire httpd directory tree comprised in part
of your own cgi-bin, configuration files (httpd.conf, et al), and log files (access,
error, and referer logs). Thus, you can customize and configure your virtual server's WWW
service to meet your specific needs (and meet them immediately) since you have complete
control of your virtual server. Similar flexibility is afforded for the other virtual
services.
Lastly, the Virtual Server System is extremely affordable. Our prices range from $55/month
for a Basic virtual server to $95/month for the Deluxe package. Order yours
